NewTown Writers is a LGBT writers' salon based in Chicago, Illinois, and holds fortnightly workshop-style meetings where members share works-in-progress. With a mission of fostering gay literature, NewTown Writers publishes the literary anthology Off The Rocks and the e-zine Swell and in 2010 we plan to publish our new anthology Gay and Gray, a celebration of the early years of the modern gay experience.

New Town Writers encourages playwrights, translators of theatrical pieces, songwriters whose songs are originally meant for inclusion in a stage work, and others, to attend workshop meetings at Gerber-Hart Library, 1127 W. Since its founding in 1980, NewTown Writers has guided countless writers in finding their literary voices. Members include award-winning authors with many publishing credits, as well as emerging writers sharing their first effort.
